![]() Congratulations go out to Kimberly Bier, a former Metro North Adult Basic Education student, who received the first Sorman Scholarship on November 3rd, 2010. Kim, a former learner at the Blaine Learning Lab site, received a check for $250 to help offset her college expenses. She has over come many obstacles in her life and was grateful to receive the much-needed support from the Metro North Adult Basic Education(ABE) consortium staff. As a learner with Metro North ABE, she completed her GED and went on to enroll in a business certificate program at the Minnesota School of Business. Many Metro North ABE Blaine Learning Lab students, Kim’s family, and Metro North ABE staff attended the celebration. Time was given for current adult learners to ask questions about Kim’s journey as well as her college experiences. Kim will be just the first of many who will benefit from the generous donation from Mr. Sorman and his family. The Sorman Scholarship is open to all current staff-nominated Metro North Adult Basic Education consortium learners who continue their education beyond the instruction offered at Metro North ABE.
