Volunteering is as Easy as 1, 2, 3

STEP 1 - Inquire

STEP 2 - Attend volunteer orientation

  • Learn about Metro North and adult basic education.
  • Meet one-on-one with staff to match your interests with our current needs.
  • Our orientations are held twice a month. 
  • Call 763-783-4731 to find the date and time of the next one and to sign up.

STEP 3 - Begin volunteering

  • Comprehensive training is provided along with nurturing support.
Metro North ABE is sponsored by Anoka-Hennepin, Brooklyn Center, Centennial, Columbia Heights, Elk River, Forest Lake, Fridley, St. Francis and Spring Lake Park School Districts.

Who We Are

Metro North Adult Basic Education (Metro North ABE) is Anoka-Hennepin, Brooklyn Center, Centennial, Columbia Heights, Elk River, Forest Lake, Fridley, St.Francis, Spring Lake Park School Districts.

Together, we help adult learners acquire basic skills in:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Math
  • GED prep
  • Adult diploma prep
  • English as another language

What We Do

Our vision is to inspire all learners to reach their full potential by teaching the skills needed to succeed as responsible citizens in our changing world.

Attend the 2013 Graduation Ceremony for

Metro North Adult Basic Education Learners

Date/Time:  Thursday June 20th at 7pm

Location:  Anoka High School, 3939 Seventh Ave N., Anoka

Those attending will be learners, their family and friends, staff and volunteers.  Come celebrate with our learners.  Whether you were with them at the beginning or when they finished, volunteers have helped learners all through this journey.  Join the celebration!

Volunteers Help Students to Succeed

 

The volunteers at Metro North Adult Basic Education (ABE) sites do so much more than instruct. They encourage, inspire, and mentor learners to achieve their fullest potential.  The work of our volunteers was very apparent at the Metro North ABE Graduation Ceremony.
