What is JumpStart Your Success?

The JumpStart program is a partnership between the Anoka County Workforce Center and Metro North ABE to provide support for students who want to earn their GED®.  This is a fast-paced course designed specifically to meet the increased demands of the 2014 GED® exams.

When are JumpStart classes offered?

Classes are Monday-Friday, from 9:00AM-1:00PM. 

The average student attends 180 hours (12 weeks) of classes.

What are JumpStart classes like?

There are 2 components to JumpStart classes:

  • The first component is instruction from an ABE teacher.  This includes small group, large group, and computer based instruction on skills to pass the GED®.
  • The second component includes instruction on job seeking skills and career exploration from Workforce Center staff.

*Students must attend both components to be enrolled in JumpStart .

 What are the requirements for JumpStart?

  • Complete intake, paperwork, and assessment testing
  • Attain a minimum score on a D Level TABE in Reading and Math (If a student’s score is below the level for JumpStart, Blaine Learning Lab offers classes at the same time as JumpStart to help build up skills required to get in to the course.)
  • Attending a minimum of 80% of scheduled class time is a requirement to stay enrolled in the program.
