Classes: Throughout the year Metro North ABE offers Citizenship Classes to current Metro North ABE student attending ESL or ABE classes

  • Get information about becoming a U.S. citizen
  • Learn U.S. History and Government
  • Practice for the citizenship interview

Metro North ABE has received a grant as part of a collaborative project with MidMinnesota Legal Aid (provides naturalization preparation legal assistance) to provide free citizenship classes for anyone that qualifies. 

To qualify you must:

  • Be in the process of getting your citizenship
  • Be a legal permanent resident
  • Provide documentation of your eligibility


Classes starting soon at 2 locations:

Brookdale Library, Brooklyn Center: Room A/B, 6125 Shingle Creek Pkwy, Brooklyn Center
  • August 15-October 24, 2015 
  • No class on September 5, 2015
  • Saturdays, 9:00AM-12:00PM 
  • Must bring your permanent resident card with you to the first day of class
To sign up for class at the Brookdale Library:
Current Metro North ABE student
  • call 763-706-3833 and tell them you are interested in signing up for the Citizenship class at the Brookdale Library.
NOT a current Metro North ABE student
  • Attend an intake at the Columbia Heights Adult Education Center
  • 4111 Central Ave NE, South Building, Suite 100, Columbia Heights
  • Tuesday at 9:00AM, Tuesday at 5:30PM, or Thursday at 9:00AM
  • No intake at 5:30PM on Tuesday, August 11
